Compliance audit — what it is and why you need it

What it is. A compliance audit establishes, law by law and return by return, whether your business has actually done what it is required to do — company filings, income tax, GST, TDS, provident fund and ESI, professional tax, labour registrations and returns, environmental and factory licences, shops and establishments, and whatever else applies to your industry and your locations. It produces a register of every obligation you carry, and the evidence of whether each was met on time.

What we need from you. A list of all your locations and registrations; your filed returns and challans for the period, with acknowledgements; your licences with their expiry dates; correspondence from any authority, including notices you may not have told anyone about; and one person per function who can locate documents. Most of the work is finding evidence, not analysing it.
